When parents are too involved in sports?
A parent of sports began training his son at the age of four years to become a professional football player. The father left his job to help his son as coach. The son is now 12, spends 10 hours per day training with his father.
When a parent sports are also involved?
Above all, sports parents need to take into account the importance of helping their young athletes to take a balanced life. Do you have time to play with friends and pursue other interests? Or are their identities only defined by function athletes? You do not want their children to assess their own value only if they can score points or play on winning teams.
It is also important that the child knows that you direct. You do not want your child to practice sports dreams. When children play just to satisfy their parents, often feel under pressure. It is difficult to play freely and intuitively. On the other part, left the sport in general, and lose all its great benefits, emotional and physical!
We're not saying they should not intervene at all in the your child's experience of sports. Everything is about balance. Once your child decides to play sports, has an important role to play as parents of sports.
We must be careful to find a trainer and the right equipment for your child. It's a good idea to support the coach and the team as far as possible by bringing snacks or organizing parents.
In addition, you must know all about "mental game" strategies that help your child boost confidence and happiness in the sport. Some These strategies include:
• Set manageable goals instead of communicating high expectations
• Focus on your child in the process application in the here and now instead of worrying about the results, standings and statistics
• Help children to take responsibility by the trust instead of leaving the trust to chance, and how they play at the start of a game
• Help children learn to move beyond the mistakes
• Encourage young athletes to keep their composure in times of crisis to enable them to contribute to the team rather than strengthening and play fear
• encourage children to play freely and intuitively rather than fear of playing and being afraid of making mistakes.
