2006 Dwayne Bryant of the NFL preview, Part I: NFC East

2006 NFC East Preview
In a series of eight parts, sports handicapper Dwayne extracts Bryant 2006 NFL season. In the first part, Dwayne gives his thoughts and predictions on the NFC East.

Teams are listed in the order finishing requirements.

. Dallas Cowboys 1

Crime: The Greatest Big again D, in the offseason is the addition of receiver Terrell Owens. Cowboys Owens immediately Assistance extremely powerful offense. Your ability to meet unique way for Terry Glenn and more space in the center of tight end Jason Witten. It also means more space for runners duration of Julius Jones and Marion Barber. The Cowboys drafted Notre Dame tight end Anthony Fasano with the plan to eliminate the role of fullback and go to an offense with two tight ends. Bill Parcells likes the idea of being able to use this package in the three attempts to keep the opposing defense guessing. The only question on offense is whether the offensive line can protect Drew Bledsoe quarter. Dallas has deepened over the line by signed tackle Jason Fabini and cons also added guard Kyle Kosier to replace Larry Allen.

DEFENSE: Dallas Switch 3-4 was pretty good last season. D Dallas 12th in points allowed and 10 yards in the permit. OLB DeMarcus Ware, despite a slowdown in the middle of the season had a good season in the league, recording eight sacks. Look for this issue to improve in 2006. Second Year ends Marcus Spears and Chris Canty toured with Gregg Ellis to give the Cowboys good ability to pass over land. Jason Ferguson Mammoth clogs the middle of the line. LB corps will be improved through the addition of rookie Bobby Carpenter ILB and OLB Akin Ayodele. The other solid secondary with cornerbacks Terence Newman and Anthony Henry and Roy Williams SS.

Special Teams: With all the talk, many overlook the signing of kicker Mike Vanderjagt. Vanderjagt FG is now the most accurate kicker in NFL history. Will not start on, but the statistics show very successful career started out. Speedster Tyson Thompson broke a franchise documents for kickoff returns (57) and yards (1399), but has not taken all the senses.

Prediction: The offense is more explosive and the defense of young people showed an improvement continues the second year of the scheme 3-4. The Cowboys are among the top three teams in the NFC and could well end in the NFC Championship game.

2. New York Giants

Offense: QB Eli Manning made great progress last season and should take another step forward in the year 2006. RB Tiki Barber had a fantastic 2005 season, leading the NFL with 2390 yards from the line of scrimmage. If Barber says (he is a member of the most "RB 30 Club "), the Giants offense should be lethal again. WR Plaxico Burress had a good first season in the Big Apple, a total of 1,214 yards and seven touchdowns. Rookie Sinorice Moss could overtake Amani Toomer WR as the No. 2 team. And do not forget to TE Jeremy Shockey, who represented seven TD in 2005. If Shockey can stay healthy, which is a big "if", could reach double-digit entries in 2006.

DEFENSE: The Giants pass defense has been poor in 2005, ranking 27th in yards allowed. Certainly can not blame on the defensive line. End Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora combined for 26 bags of 41 teams. CB Sam Madison and RW McQuarters and safety Demps should have been to help build the school. LB LaVar Arrington was also added to improve the seven earlier. Los Gigantes recorded 37 steals last season (3rd League) and try to improve that number with the talent they have added.

Special Teams: Forget about the game in Seattle that is easy to do, unless you're a Giants fan. Jay Feely hit 35 of 42 FG attempts in 2005 with a long of 52 yards. Feely led all NFL kickers with 148 points last season and should see plenty of scoring chances this season as well. Chad Morton is a dangerous man who can not field position swing back in favor of the Giants every time he touches the ball.

Prediction: Manning will continue to improve and crime continue to produce. The issue is defense. Even with the players we have added, it will take some time for that after a gel as a unit. We hope that the G-men in the battle for second place in the NFC East, and also because a wild card.

3. Washington Redskins

Offense: QB Mark Brunell Is there anything in the tank? After a strong start for the 2005 season, Brunell gone wrong and one wonders if the keys will handed over to Jason Campbell. The 'Skins brought in receivers Brandon Lloyd and Antwaan Randle El to take the heat from Santana Moss. TE Chris Cooley appeared as a threatening red zone, scoring seven TD last season. The focal point of the offense is RB Clinton Portis, who improved his numbers in the second year as a Red. Portis ran for 1516 yards and scored 11 touchdowns last season. With even average QB play, this offense has some potential.

DEFENSE: The Skins added Andre Carter to try to improve his streak going. Carter, who played in the system of the 49ers OLB 3-4, has great speed, and updated to this unit. It is unlikely that this will be enough to generate a wave of four before. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will continue to use aggressive moves to opposition pressure SBC. The body will be less LB LaVar Arrington, but still a solid group that should keep the 'Skins defense respectable. The strength of this defense in the secondary. Shawn Springs is a solid cover corner and tandem safety Sean Taylor and Adam Archuleta Washington should be among the league leaders in pass defense.

SPECIAL UNITS: Kicker John Hall battled injuries last season but still managed to make 12 of 14 FG attempts. The 'Skins have been 11 in return kick in mid-season and had two touchdowns last statement. They also ranked 28th in overall average back. Wait Randle El to improve this phase of the Washington special teams unit.

Prediction: It all comes down to QB play. Brunell best days are behind him and Campbell's lack of experience, so his third in this division.

4. Eagles

Crime: With Terrell Owens in the picture, look for the Eagles to return to their "pitch" ball philosophy. There is no clear No. WR in this pass happy offense. Reggie Brown has had a good rookie season and has great potential. Todd Pinkston and Greg Lewis are also viable options. The Eagles also have recruits Before Jason and Jeremy Bloom in the fold. QB Donovan McNabb seemed to favor TE LJ Smith (61 catches) last season. RB Brian Westbrook did not get a ton of carries, but it's a nightmarish confrontation in the air. If he and McNabb can stay healthy, this offense should produce pretty good.

DEFENSE: This powerful device once it is reduced to 27 in points allowed and 23rd in yards allowed in 2005. Even more surprising blitz-happy unit, Jimmie Johnson, are only recorded 29 sacks this season. Philly signed Darren Howard to improve the tip DT Brodrick Bunkley and prepared to take to solidify the interior line. The Eagles have some talent at linebacker and the secondary should be better play this season with an online game improved.

Special Teams: David Akers battled injuries last season, but still being one of the best kickers in the league. Reno Mahe led the NFL with an average yield of a clearance of 12.8 meters at a mid-season work.

Prediction: I put the Eagles last in the NFC East, but it was finished much higher if all the pieces fall into place. In another division, I had placed above the square.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Cowboys are my chances to win the NFC East, but to that of any team in this division could win if the cards fall his way. Dallas seems to be rising by the National Conference. The Giants will be fighting for the title division with improved Eli Manning. The Redskins could win too, but solid QB play. And I do not see that happening. The Eagles are one shot back McNabb under the center, but it is better to play their defensive line. It is without doubt the toughest division in my opinion. Although each play six games of the division, I do not see any of them finished worse than 7-9. About the Author
