Paris NFL 2007: AFC North Analysis

Baltimore Ravens (13-3 SU, 10-6 TTY): The Ravens abandoned their "good defense, no offense" labeling head coach Brain Billick began calling the plays six games this season. The return of rickety but reliable Steve McNair at quarterback the development of the popular guard Ben Grubbs and the upgrade of Willis McGahee at RB should keep the attack drone. The defense has lost a bolt always intimidating LB Adalius Thomas, but do not expect defensive coordinator Rex Ryan to be less aggressive. It is no exaggeration to see the Ravens to 7-0 before their week. Below is a list brutal second half, including the Chargers, Patriots and Colts, back to back to back.
Statistics (Regular Season, 1998-2006)
SU: 81-63
ATS: 79-69-6
HF: 34-15-2
HD: 8-9-3
FY 1910-1916
AD: 1923-1917
Sportsbook Buster: Ravens are just 2-9 ATS against Dolphins, who play in Miami, December 16
Paris sports angle: Baltimore has been a favorite Top most reliable in the NFL for nine seasons, winning 34-15-2 record (.693) ATS.

Cincinnati Bengals (8-8 SU, 8-7-1 ATS): There is no doubt that QB Carson Palmer, WR Chad Johnson and RB Rudi Johnson, Bengals have offensive explosiveness compete with anybody. But perhaps the Cincinnati head coach Marvin Lewis finally building a defense worthy of great power and crime also importantly, the Bengals can get in trouble with the law? The Bengals had only nine players arrested in a new period of months last year, which is evident there is no way to build a winning football team. Cincinnati has the talent to be 6.10 but could end like 6-10.
By the numbers (of the regular season 1998-2006)
SU: 54-90
ATS: 60-80-4
HF: 11-18-2
HD: 15-24
AF: 9-3
AD 24-34-2
Sports Buster: The Bengals are 7-1-1 ATS nine recent games against the Patriots, those who face Oct. 1.
Paris sports Angle: Cincinnati was a bad bet at home, to forge a 26-42-2 record (.382) ATS Paul Brown Stadium, the last nine seasons.

Steelers (8-8 SU, 8-8 ATS): Mike Tomlin brings his "Tampa 2" defense of Minnesota, Pittsburgh, putting end the reign of 15 years of Bill Cowher as Steelers coach. The return of defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau will facilitate the transition and maintain alignment of Pittsburgh 3-4, if the help is needed at linebacker to ease the burden on the safety Troy Polamalu. After suffering a motorcycle accident before the start of last season, QB Ben Roethlisberger is with full health and turn your way to win the 2005 Super Bowl eagerly awaited. Like Cincinnati, Pittsburgh could finish anywhere 10-6 in 1960-1910, depending on how the team plays.
Statistics (Regular Season, 1998-2006)
SU: 85-58-1
ATS: 73-67-4
29-33-1 HF
HD: 6-3
AF: 17-14-2
AD: 21-17-1
Sportsbook Buster: Steelers are 11-2 ATS at home Monday night when they play at Baltimore, November 05 and Miami on Nov. 26.
Paris sports angle: Pittsburgh has covered six straight games ATS in Cincinnati, where the teams meet Oct. 28.

Cleveland Browns (4-12 SU, 7-8-1 ATS) winless in division play a year ago, it is difficult to make a case for a change of residence from the basement Browns this season. There is uncertainty at quarterback where Charlie Frye, Derek Anderson and rookie Brady Quinn (if he ever signs) are vying for the job opportunity but the running game, led by the recent arrival of Jamal Lewis, guard Eric Steinbach and drafted running back # 1, fighting Joe Thomas, should be improved. The Browns were 27 in total defense last year and set this unit just probably not good enough to keep Cleveland in the AFC North basement finish again.
By the numbers (of the Season Regular, 1999-2006)
SU: 40-88
ATS: 58-68-2
HF 10-11
HD: 18-22-1
2-0 AF
AD: 28-33-1
Sportsbook Buster: The Browns have ATS lost seven straight for the Steelers, who play at home September 9 and on the road Nov. 11.
Paris sports angle: Cleveland is 0-6 ATS against a division opponent at home after playing the game to a non-conference opponent.

Key:
SU = Straight Up
ATS = against the spread
HF = Home Favorite
HD = Home Underdog
AF = Away Favorite
AD = Away Underdog
