It is the realization of a great coach
Now that's The Making of a great coach
Matt Fankhauser
Is it coaching high school sports and leadership training in the business world as well? It is the opinion of this writer who can match the value of coaching almost any computer equipment in the company. The role of a great leader should be a great coach, agent of change and motivation. Many lessons in the business side and amateur and professional sporting world. By example, monitoring and measuring results the influence of a coach is when the time runs out, there is always a score indicating whether the coaching and learning are transfer results.
Many successful coaches have been recognized in the world of sport. John Wooden, legendary NCAA basketball world, has won ten national championships during his reign at UCLA. Phil Jackson helped the Chicago Bulls to five NBA championships and then led Los Angeles Lakers to three. Bill Belichick led the Patriots New England won three NFL Super Bowl in four years, a feat rare in today's world of professional sports. The commonality between these coaches is the ability not just to win a championship, but several championships, and all within a short time. If these coaches were not winning the championship, have always been near the top their respective professions. Great coaches not only able to obtain a performance and results with your team, but also to maintain the results and performance in time.
So the question now is how these coaches get better performance than others? What are the traits and characteristics we can compare and remove the sports world and apply to training in business leadership? Let's take a closer look at one of the coaches mentioned earlier, Bill Belichick of the Patriots New England. What did the coach who is? There are three specific areas that distinguish it from ordinary
1. It rivals and has developed a style leadership training of other great teachers and coaches.
2. He selected a team to adapt its strategy and the concept of a team.
3. He has surrounded himself coaches to support effectively.
1. Bill Belichick first model was his father, Steve Belichick, a highly respected football coach. He was sentenced to life imprisonment "spends most of his career in the Navy, where he coached football for 33 years. Steve was regarded by his peers as a coach and trainer was considered a master of the original game. It said he had no equal in preparing his players for a game. Steve has dedicated himself entirely to his profession and to caught an ethic of hard work by his son. Steve taught his son the bill that football "… it is just a game, was a thing to be working …. proud. "
Bill Belichick, also had the advantage of being supervised by another successful coach, Steve sarote, secondary school coach. Sarote coach for over 41 years in Andover, Maryland. When the attitude of young players in the 1960s required a change in the football game sarote hardly changed. There a time when young men and women questioned the authority and no longer automatically followed the dictates of the coach or the dean. This meant that the style of the powers influence should be different, but sarote was easy. A great authority figure, who led through persuasion, not command and screams. You could always tell their players, quietly, what to do in a particular game, and part of his mission, he planned to run. Sarote learned with great talent, which had an effect exemplary youth in your program. Sarat could reach the depths of a player and help develop the character. He taught that excellence has been evaluated, mistakes are made, even expected, and the game was still fun. Their expectations of the players were simple, be in good shape and listen to the coaches. Never minimize their players and never had to discipline. The rules were established, were clear and not mislead sarote time. This was not lost on Bill Belichick.
2. Bill Belichick clearly understands the concept of teamwork. Many People are impressed that the bill is focused on this concept, even when external forces working in against it constantly. In football, there may be up to 40 players that play a role in any given victory, even if the media can not hold one or two people. It is easy to see how this equipment can be damaged by pre-game hype and media interviews include the stars, instead of the team collectively. Belichick keeps his players focused on the whole. As was obvious when New England took the field in his first Super Bowl. Each player is usually introduced one by one. Belichick said officials in the league that his team was presented as a team suddenly trust. But in a sport where individual egos are constantly fed, search "team" players can be a real challenge.
3. Bill Belichick, also includes a single man can not do everything. If I had to make a great team, we have to find the right talent. Draft Bill spends much time and energy on the choice and selection of good players. When Bill played football in Andover, was associated with another Player, Ernie Adams. Both men were intrigued by the football at an early age. In high school, they were called nerds Football and the connection between them was immediate and lasting. Adams became a hunter of great skill and mastery of film evaluation. After 30 years of coaching, Belichick and Adams are finally coaching in the biggest game of their lives, the Super Bowl and consider the main losers. But they had done their homework and their managers their team won. At the end of the game, Ron Jaworski, former NFL star player was quoted as saying: "Belichick is the best in the game today, maybe better than ever."
We can learn from Bill Belichick and the world of sport by implementing a few simple items leadership training for businesses.
1. Look good coaches and learn from them. As we make today better coaches, we will also structure a way for future leaders and coaches of our organizations.
2. Be sure to focus on the team concept, not in the stars rewarding. We must be able to mentor each team member or better, maintaining its focus on the need for teamwork as a whole.
3. Surround yourself with people who can and will help to and support their efforts as a leader who will provide the right framework at all levels within the organization.
Surprising results can be obtained from any organization, when coaches remember these three simple ideas.
